What’s Happening?

We encourage our church family to get together outside of worship times. Our churches offers a range of social, learning and volunteer events that help strengthen our members as individuals and as a community.

Our Calling

We are called to be a welcoming community of faith,
We are called to love one another.
We respond to God's love in Christ through worship, music, service to our neighbours near and far, and responsible stewardship of God's creation.

Our Story

St. Joseph Island Pastoral Charge is a community of faith rooted in the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do. Come and join us to experience God’s grace for yourself. There’s a special place for you at our welcoming Island churches.

God Loves Queer People

On June 6th, Christian clergy joined MPP Wong-Tam at Queen’s Park to stand unified in support for our 2SLGBTQI community members. A Unity Statement, signed by over 800 Christian clergy including Rev. Stewart Walker was presented. As many of the people propagating hate claim religious ties, we felt we needed a Christian response from queer positive clergy and so we wrote this 2SLGBTQI+ Unity Statement. Canadian Shield Regional Council has asked that as a Community of Faith, we affirm the following declaration in support of the 2SLGBTQ+ community which is being read in many faith communities during this Pride season. Island Council approved that this statement be read at its June 13th meeting. We are making this statement in response to the rising expressions of hatred targeting the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Our faith community wishes to tell the 2SLGBTQ+ community that you are welcome here. Today, we speak out in favour of inclusion and love. We believe that God loves all human beings, regardless of sexuality. Too often religion has been used to express hate, which leads to fear and violence. We condemn justifying hate in the name of religion. Today we add our voice to those of many faiths across the country to state clearly that you are welcome here. God loves you. We want you to be safe here where we worship, and everywhere you go. Let us remember that we are all the children of God, created in God’s image, who calls on us to love and support each other.

TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT

AN ACT OF RECONCILIATION

Our buildings are located on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe peoples—a territory covered by the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850. We are grateful to have the opportunity to worship on this land and work toward right relations with one another. May we listen to the voice of Truth and Reconciliation that calls to us today and invites us to work toward a better tomorrow with all our relations.
